Hand built in Geelong by three generations of the Purcell family, Scimitar lives at the Royal Yacht Club in Williamstown, Victoria, and is sailed and raced through summer and winter.

Scimitar is helmed by Barry Purcell, who with the help of his father and his son built the yacht by hand over a 30 year period. Barry has helmed Scimitar since the early 1980's.
